This summer, as part of our “Make a Splash @ Your Library” program, a special “Teen and Tween Exploration” for readers in fourth through eighth grades will be held on Fridays from 1 to 2 p.m. through July 23. Young people are invited to explore the fascinating world of water through science, discovery, crafts, and more.

On Thurs., July 28, we will take a field trip to R.B. Winter State Park, where we will meet up with young people from other parts of Union County to find out what lives in coldwater streams, check out interesting activity centers and even build sand castles!  We’ll meet at the West End Library at 10 a.m. and then head over to the park together. Don’t forget to pack a lunch!

Hey teens, did you know that you can get your own library card? The cards, which may be used at all three Union County libraries — as well as other libraries across the state that participate in the Pennsylvania Access program — are available free of charge to resident students. Simply fill out an application form and have it signed by a parent or legal guardian.

The West End Library offers a variety of material for teens. In addition to hardcover and paperback books, the library offers a selection of books on tape or CD as well as VHS tapes and DVDs.

Are you wondering what other teens are reading?  Visit the Young Adult Library Services Association “Teens’ Top Ten” list.
