Members of the Outreach Committee of Faith Lutheran Church will sponsor a lunch stand from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. during every day of the sale. The Children's Services department of The Public Library for Union County will host a field trip to R.B. Winter State Park for children ages 6 to 12 on Wed., July 28. Activities led by park staff will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents are welcome to attend. Registration and permission slips must be completed by Fri., July 23. Participants should pack lunches. A bus will pick up participants at the library in Lewisburg at 10 a.m. At the park, children will be divided into two groups to participate in a 45-minute activity. Lunch will take place from 11:45 to 12:15 p.m., then the groups will switch activities. At 1 p.m. field trip participants may choose to take a short hike or build sand castles. The West End Library will participate in a fun educational program for children and their families at R.B. Winter State Park on Wed., July 28. Activities led by park staff will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents are welcome to attend. Participants are asked to pack lunches. Anyone who is interested in participating may meet at the park, located along State Route 192 in western Union County, before the program begins at 11 a.m. or meet at the library at 10 a.m. and then travel together to the park. Participants must provide their own transportation. At the park, children will be divided into two groups to participate in a 45-minute activity. Lunch will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., afterward the groups will switch activities. At 1 p.m. field trip participants may choose to take a short hike or build sand castles. Paleontologist Mike Straka and his wife Roberta will present a free family program "Ancient Undersea Reptiles" beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Thurs., July 29, at The Public Library for Union County. The Straka's will present a prehistoric "game show," a puppet, and a touch of magic, but the real star of the show will be Molly the Mosasaur, a 15-foot life-sized replica of a fossil discovered by the Strakas during a 2003 summer dig in Nebraska.
